Bhopal/Jabalpur: A 73-year-old Congress leader shot his wife dead and then killed himself in Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday morning.Police said Saeed Khan alias Malguzar was vice-president of the city congress and was alderman during the tenure of a former mayor. He was into the real estate business for the last year. Jabalpur SP Mahendra Sikarwar told TOI that there were some "ideological differences between the couple".Around 5am on Wednesday, Saeed shot his wife Hauslabano, 53, at point blank range with a pistol in their home in Guhalpur area, say police. Hauslabano was hit in the head and died on the spot. The gunshot woke up their son, who rushed into the room only to find his mother dead. He snatched the pistol from Saeed and kept it aside. While the son was still reeling in shock, Saeed went to another room and shot himself with a rifle, said police.After initial investigation, police said domestic feud was the trigger for this murder-suicide. "Investigations are on to ascertain the actual cause," said the SP. The couple's daughter lives in the US, while their elder son is a doctor in Mumbai. The younger son lived with them.
