Call for Kolhapur city bandh given; students arriving for Talathi exams will not face inconvenience, ensure Maratha ourfits

KOLHAPUR: Hundreds of Maratha activists from Kolhapur city protested at Kolhapurs Dasara Chowk.They unanimously gave a call for Kolhapur Bandh to be observed on Tuesday to condemn the recent police action against protesting Maratha workers at Jalna district. The protesters at Jalna are demanding the right of Kunabi certificate similar to Marathas of Vidharbha which will get them reservation uder Other Backward Category.To condemn the action, Kolhapurs Maratha activists gave a call for "Jawab Do andolan". Hundreds gathered at Dasara Chowk in response to the call.Vasantrao Mulik, leader of Maratha Seva Sangh said, "We have passed three resolutions unanimously. First is court monitored enquiry into the police action at Jalna, second we had asked whether home minister Devendra Fadnavis should say sorry or resign, the voice came that he should resign on moral grounds. Thirdly we have decided to keep bandh in Kolhapur city."Mulik further said that no emergency services will get affected by the bandh. "Also, the exams for Talathi posts is going on. We will pass on the message to everyone that there should not be trouble to any students to reach the exam centre and return back safely. To avoid the inconvenience to them, we have decided not to impose bandh in rural parts of the district," said Mulik.
