Kolhapur: The local crime branch of the Kolhapur police arrested three people who posed as policemen and robbed commuters. They also seized gold jewelry worth Rs 23 lakh from the suspects. Earlier, in September, two robberies of similar pattern were reported in Kolhapur. The robbers had threatened to kill their victims using sharp weapons and stole their gold ornaments and cash.District superintendent of police Mahendra Pandit asked the crime branch to initiate an investigation on a war footing. The cops found robberies of similar patterns in other parts of the state.We have arrested three people involved in the crimes. The team carried out the raid based on a tip-off about the arrival of the robbers at Tawade Hotel Chowk. Jat and masked individuals armed with weapons forcibly entered a jewelry store and stole gold, silver items, and diamond jewelry. The police seized weapons during the arrest.
