Kolhapur: A 30-year-old man died after a dumper truck ran over him from behind along Pune-Bengaluru National Highway 48 on Saturday. Santosh Malgonda Patil, a resident of Janwad village of Chikkodi tehsil of Belgavi district was traveling on his bike at around 10.30am when a speedy dumper vehicle coming from Tawade Hotel Chowk hit him. He fell down and the vehicle ran over him leading to his death on the spot. The Shiroli MIDC Police Station registered a case and booked the driver of the dumper truck. The pickup was heading towards Naubasta from Ghatampur when the accident happened. The driver has been arrested and an investigation is underway.
