The wife’s body has been sent for autopsy. The police has launched an investigation after registering a case at Mansoorpur police station under various sections of the IPC, including 304B (dowry death).
A 24 year old woman was allegedly strangled to death with a wire by her husband over dowry on Sunday. The wife was a beautician and a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad whereas the husband is a barber in Muzaffarnagar.
The couple, originally working in Loni, was married around seven months ago. They had returned to the accused’s house in Muzaffarnagar during the nationwide lockdown.
According to news reports, the wife had saved money Rs. 4 lakh in her bank account and wanted to open her own beauty parlor while the husband had been demanding money for several weeks. On Sunday morning, after a heated argument between them, the husband allegedly strangled her to death.
