MEERUT: Police added IPC section 364 -- kidnapping or abducting in order to murder -- and sections of Arms Act in the FIR against the three culprits who had allegedly humiliated and urinated upon a 20-year-old student from Meerut, nearly a month ago. The cops also re-arrested Ashish Malik, 24, the main accused. He was sent to 14-day judicial remand. The non-bailable IPC section 364 states that "one shall be punished by RI for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to fine".Notably, Malik and two others, Mohit Thakur and Rajan Gujjar, were booked on the complaint by the victims father under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) on November 16. IPC section 294 (obscene acts) was added later after the video of the incident came to the fore. They were later arrested and got bail soon after. Thakur and Gujjar are currently on bail.SSP (Meerut), Rohit Singh Sajwan, said on Monday, "The sections were added following the statement given by the students father in which he narrated his sons ordeal."In the complaint, the family told police: "On November 13, he was en route to a relatives place to distribute Diwali sweets when the men stopped him and took him to a secluded place inside the forest in Jagriti Vihar. One of them had said that we would kill him and they had a gun too. For hours, he was confined and was abused, humiliated and urinated upon."His sister further said, "Since the FIR was lodged at the Medical Police station, we had been urging cops to add this section, but it happened only after the intervention of a top police officer."The family had also approached the National Human Rights Commission after not getting "sufficient support" from the cops.
