Woman dies in explosion at illegal firecracker factory in Shamli

SHAMLI: A lethal explosion in an illegal fireworks manufacturing unit within a residential area in Shamli district led to the death of a 75-year-old woman on Saturday. The police and fire department arrived at the scene upon receiving a distress call. Shamli SP Abhishek, told TOI, "Teams initially commenced firefighting efforts and conducted a rescue operation inside the house, where the body of a local woman was discovered. The illegal firecracker unit operators had fled after the explosion." The explosion occurred within a residence owned by Pramod Kumar, located in Lane 5 of Dayanand Nagar in Shamli city. The deceased woman has been identified as Kartari Devi, a resident of the same locality, involved in the packaging process at the factory. SP Abhishek said, "A case has been registered under IPC section 304 and sections 5 and 9B of the Explosives Act of 1884."
