MEERUT: Baghpat additional district and sessions court sent Neelu Singh, 30, to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Monday after finding him guilty of raping a minor in 2018. The special Pocso judge, Shushil Kumar-III, also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on him, to be given to the survivor as compensation.Special public prosecutor Narendar Panwar told TOI, Neelu Singh, a farmer, lived in the same neighbourhood as the 15-year-old girl. On June 17, 2018, he lured her to a secluded room in his house and raped her." An FIR was registered against him under relevant sections of the IPC, and the Pocso Act. Two months after the arrest, he was granted bail. Since then, he had been out but was arrested again on Saturday. The girl became pregnant and complained of stomach ache, leading to her admission to the hospital. Doctors confirmed her pregnancy and the girl informed her family about the boys actions. A case of rape was registered against the boy under the POCSO Act. The girl stated that she met the boy outside her coaching institute and they exchanged numbers. He later took her to his home where he raped her.
