Two held after encounter forbank robbery in Bulandshahr

Meerut: Two men allegedly involved in a bank robbery were arrested following an encounter with police from Uttar Pradeshs Bulandshahr Dehat area, officials said on Wednesday. The accused are Abid Ali (28) and Mohd Ahmed (25), both residents of Chhatari area in Bulandshahr.On Monday afternoon, three motorcycle-borne men robbed an Indian Overseas Bank branch at gunpoint. They looted Rs 6 lakh in cash from the bank on Khurja-Bulandshahr road in Neemkheda village. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bulandshahr Shlok Kumar on Wednesday said both were shot in the leg during retaliatory fire from police. He added that the three accused are friends who planned this robbery to live a lavish life. The main accused, Abid, was living in Mumbai for some time and he was ambitious. He returned to Bulandshahr a few months ago and was looking to make a quick buck," he said. The accused, who hail from Dungarpur, allegedly broke into the MLAs house and stole valuables worth Rs 16.3 lakh. One of the accused had previously worked as a servant at the MLAs house and had stolen Rs 50,000 in the past. The police have recovered stolen valuables and a motorcycle, with a total worth of Rs 7.7 lakh.
