AMROHA : A few months ago, a monkey visited Ram Kunwar, 62, a farmer, while he was having food at his farm near his house in Joya region, Amroha district. He shared a portion of his meal with the curious simian. It soon became a daily affair and their bond grew strong. On Tuesday, tragedy struck when Kunwar passed away after a heart attack. As the family made arrangements for his final rites, the monkey appeared and sat beside the body along with the grieving family members. It also accompanied the family in the hearse van to the cremation ground, and did not leave its human friend until the funeral was over. A video of the monkey soon started doing the rounds.Rohit Kumar, the farmers nephew, told TOI, The monkey seemed inconsolable after my uncles demise. It clung to the bier. There were tears in its eyes and it remained near the pyre until the last rites were concluded. Subsequently, the farmers family brought the animal back home with them.According to Kumar, even after getting back, the monkey seemed desolate and refrained from eating anything on Tuesday. It was only on Wednesday that it finally ate. On Thursday, it went back to the forest. In a similar story in August this year, a restaurant owner named Mohd Nazim, 24, from Bijnor, had discovered an injured baby monkey on his rooftop. He had the animal treated, and the two quickly formed a bond. He said he made multiple attempts to release the simian into the wild, but it returned home every time.
