Truck mows down 2 school kids in B`shahr

MEERUT: Two minor school students died and a 40-year-old man suffered critical injuries after a speeding truck hit their motorcycle from behind at Syana-Garh Mukhteshwar state highway in Bulandshahr on Monday morning. Police have not yet registered a case, saying they are waiting for someone to file a complaint in the matter. The incident took place around 7:30 am when Ashok Kumar, a farmer, was on his way to drop his son Aarzu Kumar and his friend Gaurav Kumar at school. The students, both 15 years, were students of class IX at a private school. Syana police station SHO Shailendra Pratap Singh said, "The children died on the spot while the man suffered injuries on his head. He was rushed to hospital where doctors referred him to a higher medical centre in Meerut. The truck driver managed to flee. We are waiting for a complaint. The bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem." Meanwhile, locals gathered in large numbers and blocked the road demanding immediate action in the matter. Police pacified the agitators and assured quick action.
