Man murders boyfriend for his engagement to woman

AMROHA: Two days after the body of Jitendra Kumar, 20, was found at a farm in UPs Amroha district, police arrested his 19-year-old male lover Ajay Singh for choking him to death. Jitendra got engaged to a woman from his neighbouring village recently and was about to marry her. This did not go down well with Ajay Singh as he felt "betrayed".Amroha SP, Kunwar Anupam Singh, said on Tuesday that Ajay Singh and Jitendra Kumar, from the same village, worked at a factory in Haryana two years ago and "fell in love after getting attracted to each other". The murder took place in Simthala village under Adampur police limits. An FIR under IPC sections 302 (murder) and 201 (someone hides or destroys evidence of a crime) was registered.Anupam Singh, who formed a team to probe the crime, added: "When Ajays repeated pleas to call off the wedding met with no response, he plotted to eliminate Jitendra. Ajay took him to a secluded place at a nearby farm on Sunday and choked him to death. The body was later found in a cane field."A senior cop, privy to probe details, said, "With the help of informers and surveillance, a police team reached the accused on Monday evening. The following day, when he was trying to flee to Haryana, the team nabbed him. Ajay confessed to his crime and told cops he was preparing to go to Haryana with Jitendra when the wedding ruined their affair. He also said he did not want to kill his friend in Haryana as it would have led to him being suspected of the crime. He chose their native village for the crime."The rope used for the murder was recovered from Ajay. The victims family was informed and the body sent to the district hospital for autopsy.
