FIR filed against two in Meerut blast case

Meerut: A day after a massive blast turned a 2-storey building into rubble and claimed five lives, UP Police filed an FIR against Sanjay Gupta, building owner, and Gaurav Gupta, who ran an illegal plastic items manufacturing unit there, and is currently absconding. Two of the five dead were residents of Bhojpur district in Bihar. According to SP City Piyush Kumar, Sanjay Gupta and Gaurav Gupta were booked for IPC Sections 304 (culpable homicide), 268 (public nuisance causing common injury and danger), 269 (unlawful action causing disease dangerous to life) and 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), among others. As per the FIR, five persons died and six were injured in the blast in Lohiya Nagar on Tuesday morning. While the building was given on rent to three persons, the topmost floor was used by Gaurav Gupta who stored inflammable material and chemicals used to manufacture plastic items.
