Parts of west UP record ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ air quality

MEERUT: As mercury dips with the onset of winters, air quality is worsening in the Delhi-NCR region where AQI has been recorded between poor to very poor levels, according to the data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).For instance, Greater Noida, Noida, Delhi and Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, and Bulandshahr recorded Air Quality Index (AQI) in the poor category, while Meerut was in the very poor category. The city experienced a maximum temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius, which is normal for this time of year. The 24-hour average air quality index on Monday was 263, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius. The forecast predicts that the air quality will remain in the "very poor" category on Tuesday and Wednesday. The weather is expected to be mainly clear with the possibility of mist in the morning.
