MEERUT: Two days after the brutal assault and death of a 24-year-old daily-wager from the minority community for allegedly brushing his bike past a Dussehra reveller at Babugarh in UPs Hapur, police have arrested one more accused in the case. Additional SP (Hapur), Raj Kumar Agarwal, said on Thursday the postmortem report confirmed that Mohd Irshad, a local from Luhari village, had sustained multiple injuries and abrasions in his forehead and bruises in other parts of his body which may have caused his death.The victims body was handed over to his family for last rites which were performed in the presence of police. Following a spat, Irshad was beaten to death by six men from another community near the Ramlila Ground on Tuesday.Agarwal added: "Irshad was returning alone after his days work when his motorcycle hit one Deepaks two-wheeler. Soon, they got into an argument which turned ugly. More men joined Deepak and they started thrashing Irshad who then collapsed." An FIR was registered against six persons -- Deepak, Dinesh, Manish, Yogesh, Gagan and Sushant, all from Luhari, under IPC sections 302 (murder), 147 (rioting) and 148 (rioting with deadly weapon) on the basis of the victims brothers complaint. Deepak and two other men have been arrested so far. A senior officer said, "It was a case of road rage. Their bikes collided which led to an argument." Heavy police force, including PAC personnel, were deployed in the village on Thursday. Police said a mob from the minority community had later pelted stones at Deepaks house. "The situation is under control," Agarwal said.
