Man gets life sentence for killing primary school principal in Bulandshahr

MEERUT: District and sessions judge Pankaj Kumar Singh has handed down a life imprisonment sentence and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on a man responsible for the fatal stabbing of a school principal in the Sikandrabad area of Bulandshahr in September 2018.On Friday, additional district government counsel (crime) Manuraj Singh said, "The incident took place on September 4, 2018, when Mohd Izhar (28), a resident of Sikandrabad, stabbed Mohammad Iqbal (55) multiple times following a dispute over money exchange.""Izhars wife, Rahila, had worked as a cook at the primary school where Iqbal served as principal.She took Rs 30,000 to Rs 35,000 from Iqbal. When Iqbal asked her to return the money, Rahila and Izhar planned to kill him," Singh said. "On the afternoon of September 4, when Iqbal returned home from school, Izhar entered his residence and stabbed him multiple times in the stomach and chest, leading to his death, said Singh.Incidentally, Rahila died during the trial due to illness.The court, in its judgment, observed the gravity of the crime and the fact that it was committed in broad daylight. The court cited judgments from the Supreme Court and high court in as many as nine previous cases while announcing the judgment.
