MEERUT: In a flash weekend survey conducted by the UP Forest Department and Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), Black Stork (Immature) was spotted in Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary, now known as the State Swamp Deer Wildlife Sanctuary. According to the experts, this is the first time this ultra-shy species has been spotted in the sanctuary. Meanwhile, 3,000 ducks have already landed including Siberian Snowcats, the Great Egret, Woolly Neck Stork, etc.According to an ornithologist of BNHS, Dr Rajat Bhargav, We saw a total of 26 species within a duration of two-hours on Friday. This includes a total of 31 Woolly-Necked Stork, 17 Asian Openbill. For the first time, the team photographed a Black Stork which has not been sighted here before. There was just one historical record of its sighting but that was in the early 70s. Divisional forest officer (DFO) Rajesh Kumar, who was a part of the team, said, This is indeed a positive development and reflects a lot about the ecological health of the sanctuary. The winter is yet to set in but the migratory birds have already started coming. This is a good sign that this year we may witness a large number of avian guests in the wetlands of Western UP and State Swamp Deer Wildlife Sanctuary. We also published the following articles recentlyNagaland Lottery results: Winning numbers of Dear Stork Evening resultsThe Nagaland Lottery results for October 28 will be announced today at 8 pm on the official website.
