3 crushed by 4-wheeler as stray cattle hits bike

BIJNOR/SHAMLI: Three youths were crushed to death by a four-wheeler after they fell on the road when stray cattle hit their motorcycle in Bijnor late on Sunday night. They were returning to their homes in Bijnor from Dhampur. The victims have been identified as Anuj (23), Ankit (22) and Vikky (19) -- who goes by their first names only. Anuj and Vikky hailed from Timapur Deepa village, while Ankit is a resident of Indralok colony in Bijnor, police said.Anuj got married last year, while Ankit got engaged recently. Police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the offending vehicle.In another hit-and-run case on Saturday evening in Shamli district, three members of a family from Kairana died when their car was hit by an unidentified vehicle. Kaluram Singh, 55, was returning home after a medical checkup of his mother, Shyamo Devi, 78, at a local clinic. Kalurams wife, Sunita Devi, 52, and his father, Sukhbir, 80, were also in the car when the accident happened near Bhaskar School on the national highway."They were rushed to a community health centre in Kairana from where they were referred to Panipat district hospital in Haryana. Shyamo Devi and Sukhbir, and Kaluram, succumbed to their injuries. Sunitas condition is said to be critical and she was shifted to a private hospital," Veerendra Kasana, the officer-in-charge of Kairana police station, said.
