Farmer found dead hours after being detained

MEERUT: A 55-year-old man, Mohd Saleem, who was picked from his house during a raid by police on the suspicion of cow slaughter in Jahangirabad area of UPs Bulandshahr district on Friday, died under mysterious circumstances within hours of his detention. Saleems family and locals have accused the police of killing him in custody.Villagers said Mohd Saleem and a few others were detained in a pre-dawn raid."Police barged into 4-5 houses with sticks and weapons around 2am and treated all of us like criminals. They also misbehaved with women and children," a villager said, adding "police had strangled Saleem and dumped the body".Saleems son Mohd Waseem, 34, said, "A team of 10-12 cops picked my father without telling us anything. There were others too. Later, all were released but my fathers body was found a few metres away from the house."
