14-yr-old gives birth to girl in Hathras

MUZAFFARNAGAR: A 14-year-old girl in Hathras gave birth to a baby girl in the washroom of a government hospital whose staff rescued the girl and her newborn stuck in the toilet seat. The incident took place on November 15, two days after the girl was admitted due to stomach pain. Her condition remains unstable. She used to study in neighbouring district Mathura, where a boy of her age established a physical relationship with her, the girls mother said.Chief medical superintendent of the district womens hospital, Dr Shaili Singh, said due to lack of blood, the girl is being given blood transfusion. After recovery, she will be discharged from the hospital," Dr Singh said. CMO, Hathras, Dr Surya Parkash, said, After she gave birth, we shifted her to the womens hospital and both were fine at the time.According to a senior doctor at the hospital, the newborn has been admitted to the special newborn care unit (SNCU) ward. The girls family is reluctant to involve police and aims to arrange her marriage to the Mathura boy. Theyre trying to get in touch with the boys family for it. No police complaint has been filed by the minor girls family so far," a relative said, requesting anonymity, adding that they may file a complaint if "the boys side does not agree to give their name to the child.
