Trade fair tent catches fire, all safe; revives memories of Victoria Park blaze

MEERUT: A big tent at a trade fair caught fire on Wednesday night reportedly due to a short circuit. The blaze brought back memories of the 2006 Victoria Park fire in which 60 people died. Fair organiser Deepak Jain said, The fire started with a small spark in a wire installed for lights along the fabric of the tent. It burned for just 90 seconds and was put out using a fire extinguisher.There were over 80 visitors, no one panicked.
