PM Modi mentions Amroha’s ‘radio man’ in Mann Ki Baat

Meerut: In his Mann Ki Baat programme on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the efforts made by 67-year-old Ram Singh Bouddh, a resident of Gajraula in Uttar Pradeshs Amroha district, who has so far collected 1,100 radio sets.On April 29 this year, in an exclusive story, TOI had highlighted in detail Singhs love for radio and his collection. The story also mentioned how Singh got inspired by the Prime Ministers radio programme in 2014 and started collecting different types of radio sets.Talking about Singhs efforts, Modi said, In Mann Ki Baat, we talk about such initiatives that have led to major social changes. Another achievement of Mann Ki Baat is that it has made radio more popular. I have received a letter from Ram Singh Bouddh ji from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh on MYGOV. He has been collecting radios for many decades. He further said, He says after Mann Ki Baat, peoples curiosity about his museum has increased…Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath also posted on X about the PM mentioning Singhs radio museum. "...This museum is a preservation of the heritage of radio lovers, which will give the coming generations an insight into the evolution of radio..."Retired from the post of supervisor at the Warehouse Corporation of India, Singh spends most of his time with the radios hes collected over the years, spending lakhs of rupees at different junk markets of Delhi, Meerut and several other towns to pursue his passion. Interestingly, most of the sets are in working condition. The oldest radio he has in his collection was made in 1920.After Sundays Mann Ki Baat, Singh said: Its very proud and encouraging to hear from the person who has inspired you to pursue this passion. My work was first highlighted by TOI after which people started knowing me better.Singh said that right now, these radio sets are stacked in a 700 sq-feet hall of Siddharth Inter-college situated on NH-9 in the district. However, he has requested the government to provide financial assistance so that a proper museum can be made and these sets be displayed.The inter-college is run by our family and we have a space to build a larger museum where these radio machines can be showcased, he added.
