Meerut: A special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) court in Meeruton Friday awarded a seven-year sentence of rigorous imprisonment for 27-year-old Rohit Singh for abducting and raping a 16-year-old over several days in 2013. The court, led by additional district Justice Ram Kishore Pandey, also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on the convict.The case unfolded when the victim, coerced into making a false statement, vanished from a government womens shelter home in Ghaziabad, sparking a frantic search and subsequent legal proceedings.According to survivors father, Rohit, a neighbour, manipulated his daughter into giving a false statement before the court that she didnt want to live with her family, following which she was sent to Government Womens Shelter in Meerut on January 25, 2013. After three days, she disappeared, and I was certain she had eloped with Rohit as he was not in town, he said. The missing FIR of a minor was lodged at Lalkurti police station in Meerut on a complaint filed by Superintendent of the womens shelter. Medical evidence confirmed the survivors age and the court concluded that the prosecution proved forceful sexual intercourse, repeated rape, and intimidation.Mumbai: 40-year-old woman sexually assaults 16-year-old boy, bookedThe Tardeo police in Mumbai booked a 40-year-old woman for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old boy. The woman had lodged an FIR accusing her 20-year-old relative of sexual assault. However, during the investigation, it was discovered that the accused was actually 16 years old. The boys mother also lodged an FIR against the woman. The police have booked the woman under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act and are conducting further inquiries.
