Delhi Express train hits earthmoving machine, one injured

Meerut: The Delhi Express train (01618), that runs between Shamli and Delhi, met with an accident after it hit an earthmoving machine that was being used for repair work on the side of the tracks near Allawlpur-Idreespur Halt in Baghpat district on Friday noon. One of the passengers, a 15-year-old class IX student Mohd Rashid, who was sitting near the door of one of the bogies, was injuredin the leg and was immediately taken to the hospital.According to the police sources, a resident of Baraut town of Baghpat, Rashid was going to Delhi, accompanied by his father.According to Mohd Zakir, an eyewitness of the incident, The train didnt stop here and was at a considerable speed when the accident took place. Both, the front of the train and the earthmoving machine got damaged. A boy who was sitting with his legs dangling from the door also got injured. According to GRP (government railway police) inspector Udham Singh, We are looking for the driver of the machine who should not have brought it so close to the track.
