Pet dog attacks 4-year-old girl on b`day eve in Bulandshahr, owner held

MEERUT: A 4-year-old girl sustained grievous injuries on her face and neck after she was attacked by a pet dog in Khurja area of Bulandshahr, police said on Sunday. An FIR was registered on the complaint of the victims father and police arrested the dog owner.The incident took place at Naya Ganj on Saturday evening when the victim, Khushi, was going to get sweets from a nearby shop along with her friend while her family was busy preparing for her birthday celebrations.The dog which was off leash attacked the girl and bit her on the face. She also lost her two teeth in the attack.People nearby somehow rescued the child. Her parents took her to the citys CHC from where she was referred to Safdarjung hospital in Delhi due to "non-availability of anti-rabies serum"."The dog (local breed) had previously attacked several other people in the area and should be taken away. My daughter received stitches on her face and it has left scars that will never go," said her father Yashpal Singh. He also said that the dog was not sterilised.SHO of Khurja, Ravi Ratan, told TOI: "An FIR under IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and means) has been registered against the dog owner Shivam Kumar (35). He will be produced before the court."
