MUZAFFARNAGAR: A little lamb has been trapped in a borewell in Uttar Pradeshs Hathras district for eight days. According to the locals, the incident occurred on November 28 when the kid fell into an abandoned 40-feet-deep borewell on an under-construction court land near Mursan Collectorate in the district, which had been left uncovered. They said the poor animal was bleating from inside. The owner approached the administration but his pleas went unheard for eight days. Only after the matter gained traction on social media, teams from the forest department and firefighters with a JCB machine initiated a rescue operation on Tuesday to save the animal.Chandrapal Singh, the Tehsiladar (Sadar), said, "The rescue operation began on Tuesday around 1 pm, with efforts to dig out 15 ft on the first day. On the second day, the rescuers continued their efforts to extricate the baby goat from the borewell. The operation is underway."One of the locals, Mahesh Kaushik, expressed concerns about the delayed response from the authorities and said, "It has been seven days since the administration initiated the rescue operation. The districts high officials must prioritise this operation. The baby goat is still alive and bleating from inside."
