A post-graduate student at Maharaja’s College received five stitches on his head after a part of plaster of the ceiling collapsed on him on Wednesday.
Three post-graduate students of criminology and forensic science at the college who were writing an internal exam suffered injuries in the freak incident.

Two of them had head injuries while the other sustained a wound on his left leg. The students are out of danger. Vishal BS, Saleem Pasha and Yashavanth, all sophomores of a PG course, were treated at Kamakshi Hospital and discharged.

University authorities have sealed off the building, which is said to be a 150-year-old structure. Classes will be conducted in an alternate location on the campus till varsity engineers submit a structural stability assessment report. A team of engineers has launched a study.
Renovation works were under way at the building to plug seepage of rainwater. Usage of machinery could have loosened the surface of the plaster, resulting in the incident on the first floor of the building.

Vishal told that the incident took place around noon when 25 students were attending an internal test.
A portion of the ceiling plaster fell on them suddenly. Vishal and Saleem suffered head injuries while, Yashvanth who was behind him, hurt his leg. Maharaja’s College principal Anita Vimla Braggs described the incident as unfortunate.
