Of a total 103 air passengers screened on Wednesday 12 tested positive for COVID-19. Despite the guidelines from the Government not all the passengers are carrying COVID-19 test report. On Wednesday the first day of screening of passengers coming from these States as many as 103 air passengers were screened. The Municipal Commissioner has asked the airport administration to not allow the passengers coming to Nagpur from Delhi Ahmedabad Goa Jaipur to board the flight without undergoing COVID-19 test.

Of a total 103 air passengers screened on Wednesday 12 tested positive for COVID-19. As per the guidelines it is mandatory for passengers coming to Maharashtra from above-mentioned four States have to carry test report stating that they are negative for COVID-19. Despite the guidelines from the Government not all the passengers are carrying COVID-19 test report. On Wednesday the first day of screening of passengers coming from these States as many as 103 air passengers were screened. These included 38 coming by one flight from Delhi 24 coming from Ahmedabad (Gujarat) and 41 more coming by another flight from Delhi. As per the official information shared by NMC on Thursday 12 of these passengers tested positive for COVID-19. Under the guidance of Radhakrishnan B Municipal Commissioner NMC Health Department is tracing the contacts of these patients. The contacts of these patients are being asked to follow all the COVID-19 guidelines relating to isolation. The Municipal Commissioner stated that the people should travel by air only if it was necessary. For he added the number of COVID-19 cases were increasing once again in the country. The Municipal Commissioner has asked the airport administration to not allow the passengers coming to Nagpur from Delhi Ahmedabad Goa Jaipur to board the flight without undergoing COVID-19 test. The passengers should be allowed to board the flight only after checking the test report producd by them Radhakrishnan B added. Meanwhile NMC staff also screened 1200 train passengers on their arrival at Nagpur Railway Station from the above-mentioned States. Thermal screening of passengers arriving at the railway station was done first. Those having symptoms like fever cough etc were asked to undergo Antigen Test for COVID-19. In four cases the passengers were asked to undergo Antigen Test. They were allowed to go home after they tested negative said Ram Joshi Additional Municipal Commissioner. If someone tests positive he/she will be sent for isolation to COVID Care Centre in Pachpaoli. If a patient needs better care he/she will be admitted to hospital. Though NMCs report was available similar data for screening of passengers was not available with the district administration. Apart from collecting fine NMC providing face-masks to violators Staff Reporter : Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has been collecting fine from people who do not wear face-masks while moving out of their homes. However still as the violations continued NMC administration has started distributing face-masks to such violators on the spot after collecting fine from them. Radhakrishnan B Municipal Commissioner issued the directions in this regard to Nuisance Detection Squad. Accordingly the squad started implementation from Thursday. According to the Municipal Commissioner distributing face-masks to violators on the spot apart from collecting fine may lead to people following the norms. Ram Joshi Additional Municipal Commissioner said that NMC had started this Gandhigiri to help people improve their behaviour. It is necessary to use face-mask maintain physical distancing and wash hands frequently to keep COVID-19 infection at bay he stressed. NMCs Nuisance Detection Squad has been collecting Rs 500/- fine from irresponsible citizens not wearing face-masks while moving out of their homes. In the past few days NMC has recovered fine of Rs 9098500/- from 21479 violators.
