(Pics by Satish Raut) Staff Reporter : TN Governor Banwarilal Purohit grace the function organised by Padmagandha Pratishthan to honour Union Minister Nitin Gadkari with Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar “My goal is to help farmers in the country to manufacture bio-fuel. I also wish to see all vehicles run on bio-fuel so that the city and country become pollution-free. I work for nation and motherland. There is no paucity of funds if one has the will to work for the nation” said Nitin Gadkari Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways. Gadkari was speaking in function organised by Padmagandha Pratishthan to honour him with Nalini Balkrishna Deopujari Memorial Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar at Shree Shaktipeeth Ram Nagar on Sunday. Banwarilal Purohit Governor of Tamil Nadu was the guest of honour on this occasion. Devendra Fadnavis former Chief Minister of Maharashtra inaugurated the programme while Dr Pankaj Chande former Vice-Chancellor of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University presided over. Shubhangi Bhadbhade President of Padmagandha Pratishthan and Kanchan Gadkari also shared the dais. Banwarilal Purohit Shubhangi Bhadbhade Devendra Fadnavis and Dr Pankaj Chande presented Nalini Balkrishna Deopujari Memorial Jeevan Gavrav Puraskar to Gadkari. The award consists of cash prize shawl sreefal bouquet scroll of honour and a memento. Kanchan Gadkari also was felicitated on this occasion. In his speech Gadkari said “I have achieved success in my life because of virtuous and value-based learning I got from Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Along with these great institutions the virtues inculcated by my mother helped me to work for the great nation. I am sure India will be recognised as a developed nation in future.” He shared several of his achievements as Union Minister. He spoke about 1300-km long green expressway from Mumbai to Delhi; six bridges constructed across Brahmaputra river cleaning of holy river Ganga water transportation through Ganga tunnel at Zojila pass etc.“It is because of love and affection of citizens of Nagpur who voted for me I could achieve these milestones” he added. Purohit said that Nitin Gadkari had set the best example of how politics could be the best medium to serve the nation than to earn money through it. Purohit described Gadkari as a true and dedicated worker of grassroot level who started his career as a common worker and reached the peak in the party organisation. He termed core group of seven ministers as Saptarshi and said that every citizen of Nagpur should be proud as Gadkari was one of these Saptarshi. “Gadkari has showed total transparency while fulfilling responsibilities. He has handled and is handling different ministries efficiently and did miracles through development works he undertook” Purohit added. Fadnavis described Gadkari as a man of conviction. “He has tremendous decisive power updates knowledge on regular basis has scientific temperament and is always ready to accept new technologies. Also he has a grip on administration. With these qualities he has really transformed India” he said. Earlier Shubhangi Bhadbhade made introductory remarks. Dr Satish Deopujari welcomed the guests. Prabha Deoskar conducted the proceedings and Sangita Waikar proposed a vote of thanks.
