VHA objects to auditing probe by NMC Principal Correspondent : Vidarbha Hospitals Association (VHA) has been repeatedly highlighting the imposition of audits on private hospitals who have been forced to reserve beds and work within capped charges without any compensation bypassing National Health Authority guidelines. According to association Private hospitals who proactively shouldered the responsibility of tackling more than 3/4th of Covid cases in Nagpur are feeling dejected by the thankless attitude of authorities. Rather than appreciating the efforts the administration has now gone ahead by hunting to purposefully degrade and demean private health care sector. Doctors are also citizens of this great nation and have constitutional rights. Rather than clerically overwhelming them with demands of varied multiple formatted details with threats of criminal prosecution and holding kangaroo courts in an unjust manner they should forward all specific bill related complaints to High Court appointed Grievance Committee for needful redressal within the framework of law. Even hospitals which have unpaid bills have been directed to submit needful details to said Grievance Committee stated Dr Ashok Arbat President Vidarbha Hospitals Association. Dr Alok Umre Secretary added that VHA had challenged 31st August 2020 GR in High Court which had ruled it in our favour by removing Non Covid capping. Same justifications apply also for Covid capping. Still all private hospitals went ahead with provision of 80:20 regulations. But now NMC authorities are using this GR as a tool to assume the role of auditor complainant jury and executioner all rolled in one. We are only pointing out this unjust postulation. Dr Anup Marar Convener Vidarbha Hospitals Association said “Maintaining reservations on capping and auditing we do seek that Covid Mitigating expenses incurred by biomedical waste disposal agencies and Oxygen suppliers should be borne by Government rather than offloading them unjustly on private hospitals.” “When there is no provision of passing on these escalated charges to admitted patients how do the authorities feel that hospital should sustain the recurring expenses? Leave aside the compensation ideally to be offered to hospitals they are now being shoved with rocketed taxes by NMC and no subsidy of any kind” Dr Sameer Paltewar of Meditrina Hospitals added. Dr Shishir Kolhe of Center Point Hospital Dr Pramod Giri of Neuron Group of Hospitals Dr Deepak Deshmukh of Suretech Hospitals Dr Tushar Gaikwad of Alexis Hospital Dr Shantanu Sengupta of Sengupta Hospital Dr Rajesh Swarnkar of Getwell Hospital Dr Dileep Rathi of Rathi Hospital also expressed their opinions. No point in objecting late: Mayor “The rates were fixed about eight months ago. The hospitals should have raised objections then only. There is no point in raising objections after such a long gap. Right now NMC is the authority and hospitals should follow norms set by the authority. Even if they have been asked to furnish details now I dont think they should have any problems if they are clean” said Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari.
