Five injured as cars collide head-on on Sadar flyoverFIVE persons were injured three of them seriously after two speeding cars collided head-on on Sadar flyover near Poonam Chambers Friday morning. Three injured including a woman were rushed to Neuron Hospital Dhantoli and one other to Alexis Hospital Mankapur. Deshmukh lost control of his vehicle near Poonam Chambers and collided head-on with the Maruti Alto car. Realising that Thakre was severely injured a crane was pressed into service. After cutting open the door of the vehicle police pulled Thakre out and rushed him to Alexis Hospital.

Three injured including a woman were rushed to Neuron Hospital Dhantoli and one other to Alexis Hospital Mankapur. All the occupants had a providential escape in the mishap. Yadavrao Deshmukh (47) a resident of Hiwarkheda Road tehsil Multai district Betul MP his sister Mamta Kanode and brother-in-law Sunil Kanode both residents of Awadhpuri Bhopal MP were coming from Saoner direction in a Maruti Baleno car (MP-04/CV-8506) around 9 am. Deshmukh was driving the car at allegedly at a high speed. Dilip Hemraj Thakre (50) a resident of Vaibhav Nagar Dighori and Krishna Wankhede were going in a Maruti Alto (MH-31/DK-5017) from opposite direction. Deshmukh lost control of his vehicle near Poonam Chambers and collided head-on with the Maruti Alto car. Occupants in both the vehicles were injured. Thakre was stuck in the mangled car for more than half an hour. Some passers-by stopped and tried to pull Thakre out but the door was jammed. The mishap threw traffic on the flyover out of gear for a long time. On being informed Sadar Police arrived at the spot. Realising that Thakre was severely injured a crane was pressed into service. After cutting open the door of the vehicle police pulled Thakre out and rushed him to Alexis Hospital. Both the ill-fated vehicles were towed to the police station.
