Youth kidnaps kills teen after demanding chopped head of his uncle as ransom DRIVEN by revenge for alleged exploitation of his mother a youth kidnapped a 15-year-old boy from MIDC area and later killed him on outskirts of city after demanding chopped head of the boys uncle as ransom on Thursday. Accused Suraj Rambhuj Shahu (20) a resident near Raisoni College MIDC was arrested by the police late Thursday night from Borkhedi when he was fleeing on a motorcycle after killing Raj alias Mangalu Rajkumar Pandey (15) a resident of Azad Nagar MIDC a police official said. During interrogation Suraj claimed that he committed the brutal crime to avenge the exploitation of his mother by Mangalus uncle. However the investigators believe that the youth was in a relationship with the cousin sister of the deceased. Her family members had forcibly tied her nuptial knot with another man by taking her to Uttar Pradesh which provoked Suraj for the crime. The officials informed that Suraj and Mangalu were acquaintances as they used to play cricket together. On Thursday evening Suraj came to CRPF ground on a motorcycle with the intention of kidnapping Mangalu who was playing cricket. On the pretext of going for a cricket match Suraj took Mangalu with him on the bike at 5.20 pm. When Suraj was riding the bike at the outskirts of the city Mangalu suspected something amiss and started crying. Suraj then started threatening Mangalu and asked him to make a call to his parents. Mangalu dialed the phone number of his mother and told her that he was kidnapped by Suraj. On the instructions of Suraj Mangalu told the parents to send a picture of the chopped head of his uncle on WhatsApp. The ransom call shocked the family and they contacted Mangalus uncle. The Pandey family members gathered at the place of Mangalus parents. Suraj reportedly contacted the family three times till 7 pm and repeated his demand for a chopped head. Mangalus uncle also reportedly spoke to Suraj on the phone and assured that he would surrender before him. However Suraj was not ready to accept anything other than a chopped head. As the family failed to fulfill his demand Suraj switched off the mobile phone at 7 pm and killed Mangalu by hitting a boulder on his head. Later he cut the wrist artery of Mangalu with a surgical blade and vanished from the spot. After reaching Sonegaon area Suraj was hiding in bushes near Sonegaon police station. Finally the family members approached the MIDC police at around 9 pm and narrated the entire incident. Police immediately swung into action and alerted senior police officials. Entire City Police went on alert mode and launched operations on the outskirts of city to nab the kidnapper. As the phone of Suraj was switched off the police were unable to locate him. He was switching the mobile phone on and off a police official said. Finally he switched on the phone at around 11.30 pm and his location was traced to Butibori. A police team was immediately deployed on the Wardha road in plain clothes. They nabbed Suraj when he was crossing Borkhedi toll plaza on a motorcycle. The police were unaware of the death of Mangalu and interrogated him on the spot to locate the child. The cops were shocked when Suraj confessed to killing the boy. He was bundled in the police jeep and taken to the spot. After searching for an hour Suraj showed the spot where the body of the boy was lying in a pool of blood on Friday at around 1.30 am. The body was sent to hospital for post-mortem. An offence under Sections 364 506 and 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered by MIDC police. Mangalus father is a small contractor in a company of MIDC. He leaves behind an elder brother and a sister. While Surajs father passed away long ago his mother is a housewife while elder brother works in a company.
