MIDC murder case: Accused taken to crime spot to ascertain route details Deceased Raj alias Mangalu Pandey Staff Reporter : Forty-eight hours after kidnapping and killing of the 15-year-old boy the MIDC police on Saturday took the accused to the crime spot to ascertain the route he took to bring the kid to the spot in Hudkeshwar Khurd. Suraj Rambhuj Shahu (20) a resident of area near Raisoni College MIDC was arrested by the police late Thursday night from Borkhedi when he was fleeing on a motorcycle after killing Raj alias Mangalu Rajkumar Pandey (15) a resident of Azad Nagar MIDC. A team of MIDC police led by Police Inspector Dinesh Labde under the guidance of DCP (Zone I) Nurool Hasan bundled the accused in the police jeep and took him to the ground near Indira Mata Nagar at 3 pm. Mangalu had gone with Suraj from this ground on Thursday at 5.15 pm. The police jeep followed the path showed by Suraj. The police team reached the crime spot in Hudkeshwar Khurd area via Jaitala-Sonegaon road-Somalwada square-Manish Nagar road-Besa-Pipla turning-Hudkeshwar Khurd around 5 pm. After reaching near Wanjari college the policemen walked upto the crime spot. The investigators will collect footage of CCTV cameras installed on the streets. The police will use the footage as evidence in the case. After studying upto Standard XII Suraj had taken admission in the polytechnic. But he left the college after first year. Since then he was doing fabrication work. The crime was driven by revenge for alleged exploitation of his mother. During interrogation Suraj claimed that he committed the brutal crime to avenge the exploitation of his mother by Mangalus uncle. However the investigators believe that the youth was in a relationship with the cousin sister of the deceased. Her family members had forcibly tied her nuptial knot with another man by taking her to Uttar Pradesh which provoked Suraj to commit the crime. After taking Mangalu to isolated spot in Hudkeshwar Khurd area Suraj threatened the kid and asked him to make a call to his parents. Mangalu dialed the phone number of his mother and told her that he was kidnapped by Suraj. On the instructions of Suraj Mangalu told the parents to send a picture of the chopped head of his uncle on WhatsApp. Suraj killed Mangalu by hitting a boulder on his head. Later he cut the wrist artery of Mangalu with a surgical blade and vanished from the spot. He was later arrested by the police on Wardha Road in Borkhedi at 11.30 pm. Suraj drew inspiration from web series Suraj was planning the murder for last five months. A web series inspired him to commit the crime using a surgical blade. He had purchased the blade last week and was waiting for the right time. The accused told the investigators that he wanted to teach a lesson to the family of the victim. Relatives demand stern action against accused Suraj Family members and relatives of deceased Raj alias Mangalu Pandey (15) gathered at MIDC police on Saturday afternoon and demanded stern action against accused Suraj Sahu (20). The mob met ACP Karyakarte and demanded capital punishment to Suraj. The ACP assured the family members that he would try his best for a fast-track court hearing. A large number of policemen were deployed at the police station to avoid untoward incidents.
