NMC proposes to waive off devpt charges for PDKV Staff Reporter : The proposal will be tabled in general body meet to be held today Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has proposed waiving off development charges for Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV) considering that later had provided large swathes of land for development projects in city. The Town Planning Department had issued a notice to Associate Dean PDKV for constructing a hostel for students without prior permission of civic body. The hostel was constructed on its own land by the varsity in Mouza Lendhra area of city. After NMC learned about the unauthorised construction they dashed of the notice and calculated the charges for sewage connection of Rs 1326317. The development fees is fixed at 1.5 per cent of prevailing market price of the land as per the general body resolution No 148 dated 23/9/2015. On getting the notice the varsity officials were shell shocked since development fees and other charges are couple of lakhs as the hostel land is in prime real estate area of city. The Associated Dean wrote a letter to civic officials and said the agriculture university is working for welfare of farmers and extension work that is no way profit-making activity. Also the hostel project was constructed using Government funds and hence paying such huge processing fees is beyond the reach of the varsity and asked that same be waived off. After careful consideration of the request from agriculture varsity civic officials prepared the said proposal for waiver. The Town Planning officials said in past the varsity land has been acquired for either extension of road network for Nagpur Metro to erect bus stand and depots and other purposes. The cost of these land alone comes to Rs. 264 crores and hence considering the generous contribution of agriculture university in citys development it would be fit to waive off the demand. The proposal is listed for discussion at the general body meeting of NMC slated for June 22.
