(Pics by Satish Raut) Staff Reporter : Commits suicide after gruesome murders; deceased include in-laws THE city woke up on Monday to a spine-chilling incident where a man killed five members of his family and in-laws in cold blood before ending his own life in Pachpaoli. Police believe that unresolvable family dispute was the motive behind the gruesome murders. According to investigators accused Alok Maturkar (43) was planning the cold-blooded murders for last several days. He had decided to kill the family members by slitting their throats in sleep the investigators suspect on the basis of three sharp-edged specially designed knives seized from the crime scene. The box of knives was ordered by Alok in the name of deceased daughter Pari police said. Alok (43) was in tailoring business and living in a three-room rented house of Bhisikar at Timabai Peth near Badals Akhada. On Monday Alok murdered mother-in-law Laxmi Bobde (58) and sister-in-law Amisha Bobde (30) at their rented two-room house which is 200 metres away from his residence. Later he returned home and killed wife Vijaya (38) daughter Pari (14) and son Sahil (9) at his house before committing suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan said Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar. ell-planned murder. He reportedly told the neighbours that he bought the meat for his children. Police believe Alok probably committed the crime between 1 am and 4 am when the victims were in deep sleep. “He must have gone to his in-laws late in the night. The in-laws live in a two-room rented accommodation on the first floor of a one-storey building. The police found the bodies of Amisha and Laxmi lying on the bed in drawing room with throats slit. Amishas clothes were removed and the body was covered with a bedsheet” a police official said. After killing the two Alok returned home where Vijaya and Pari were sleeping in the bedroom while Sahil was on the bed in the drawing room. He first slit Vijayas throat with a sharp-edged weapon. “As she screamed for help Pari might have woken up. Her head was hit with a hammer which indicates a scuffle between them when Alok tried to control her” an officials said. Paris throat was also slit and her hands and legs were tied with a rope. Her body was kept on the bed again. Bloodstains were found on the wall bed and the floor of the room. After killing the two Alok smothered his 12-year-old son with a pillow police said. Later Alok hanged himself from a ceiling fan in the bedroom where bodies of Vijaya and Pari were lying on the bed the police official added. Neighbours suspected a foul play next morning when the Maturkars door was closed for a long time. The family was among early risers in the locality. Some people peeped through the window and spotted Sahil lying on the bed in the drawing room. The neighbours threw water on him to wake him up but he did not respond. The neighbours then moved to the house of in-laws to inform them. A child entered the house and found blood stains on the floor. He came back and narrated the neighbours who promptly alerted the police. Tehsil police rushed to the spot and broke open the door and the incident came to fore. Father-in-law of Alok works as a security guard at Chandralok building. He was on duty when Alok killed his wife and daughters. Unaware of the deaths he entered the house at around 8 am and took a bath. Later he paid the electricity bill and also gave monthly rent to the landlord. He believed that his wife and daughter were sleeping and went to Aloks place with mangoes. There he came to know about the brutal murders. A team of Riot Control Police was also deployed to control the mob. Tragic end of love marriage Alok and Vijaya tied their nuptial knot 15 years ago against wishes of their relatives. Alok was calm and reserved in nature. A relative of Bobde family told The Hitavada that Alok was meeting them only at family functions. No relative was going to their place. Aloks family was living in Amravati for eight years where Alok was running a small factory of garment manufacturing. Last year a huge fire broke out in the factory after which the family moved to Nagpur and he started business here.
