Imposter posing as CBI cop nabbed

Nagpur: The anti-corruption wing of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has netted a trickster, Sadiq Quereshi, for posing as personal assistant to the DIG, CBI, to extort money from a senior railway official. He was demanding ₹20 lakh from senior divisional mechanical engineer Sandeep Kumar Verma.Quereshi was threatening Verma of action as there were several complaints against him.He was demanding the hefty amount to settle the complaints. Following a complaint from Verma, the CBI nabbed Quereshi while he was accepting the first instalment of ₹1 lakh from the bribe amount. The fraudsters threatened her with arrest and convinced her to download an app and make video calls to fake officials to resolve the situation.Officials must act on consumer complaintsConsumers in Goa have gathered to highlight various unsettled matters, including unregistered travel agencies, inaccurate weight of LPG cylinders, and supermarkets operating without proper licenses. These issues were brought up at a vigilance awareness program organized by the Goa Consumer Action Network (Goacan). The organization is calling for the enforcement of rules and for proactive action from supervisory bodies to address consumer grievances. Goacan is urging the public to send postcards and file complaints to the relevant departments, and is also calling for awareness programs to educate citizens about these issues.
