UMANG helping veterans navigate civilian life, probs

Nagpur: The Armys sub-area for Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat (UMANG), which was shifted to Nagpur in 2018, has helped a large number of veterans living in Vidarbha and Gujarat, said General-officer-in-Command Major General SK Vidyarthi. The GoC had coordinated the entire operation to rescue Prince, the boy who had fallen into a borewell at Kurukshetra in Haryana, 17 years ago.In one of Vidyarthis initiatives here, the sub-area is acting as a bridge between army personnel, veterans and civil authorities. Recently, a military personnel lost a sizeable amount of money in an investment scam promising high returns. The matter was taken up with civil authorities to recover the money, said Vidyarthi. Other cases related to land matters were also resolved in coordination with civil authorities, added an UMANG official.
