Inspector booked for pointing gun at biker

Nagpur: A former in-charge of Khaparkheda police station, assistant police inspector Pravin Munde was booked along with two other personnel, Pradeep Mane and Shailesh Yadav, for allegedly threatening a biker at gunpoint after an accident. The offence was registered at Koradi police station on Wednesday.In June, Munde and two of his colleagues were travelling in a private car, when they suddenly slammed on the brakes.The biker, Shubham Wahane, who was coming from behind, suffered serious injuries, including a fractured arm after he rammed into Mundes car. The inspector and his colleagues, as per the petition filed in high court, threatened Wahane at gunpoint after the accident. The trio was in civil attire.Wahane had contended he was forced by Munde and two cops to get admitted in a hospital in Kamptee, and not in the one he preferred. As per the complaint, Munde and his colleagues also created fake records, stating Koradi cops had taken him to the police station after dispersing a mob. Wahane had lodged the police complaint in July and after the cops refused to take cognizance, he moved high court. Police cgief Amitesh Kumar intervened after coming to know about the petition. The woman constable had called the inspector to her house on the instructions of her husband, who is also a constable. The inspector was injured during a fight with the womans husband, and the husband allegedly abandoned the injured inspectors car to tamper with evidence. The inspector is currently unconscious and undergoing treatment in hospital. The petitioners argue that the government has not collected sufficient data to determine the inadequacy of representation of scheduled caste (SC) and scheduled tribe (ST) communities. They are seeking to quash the instructions for reservation and promote inspectors based on seniority and merit without reservation benefits. The case is scheduled for further hearing on November 2.
