Historic Sita temple in Yavatmal village celebrates womanhood

Nagpur: The epic single mother epitomised in Goddess Sita is worshipped with her two sons, Luv and Kush, in a centuries-old shrine nestled in Yavatmal district, even as the nation awaits the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, 900km away. What sets this temple apart is the celebration of single motherhood and the stark absence of idols of Lord Ram or his brother Lakshman, which usually completes the pantheon in all temples dedicated to the Ayodhya king.The Sita Mandir at Raveri recently underwent a transformation and the old, crumbling idol was replaced with a meticulously carved stone replica and the entire village came together to celebrate the shrines makeover.A prominent figure of farmers organization, Shetkari Sanghatana, Wamanrao Chatap, said, While the world and Indias attention is focussed on Ayodhya, here in Raveri, we have breathed new life into the temple dedicated to Sita. The RSS stated that the temple inauguration on January 22 will be a "great moment of joy for everybody". Ahead of the ceremony, RSS workers will conduct a door-to-door campaign to extend invitations to the public. The RSS emphasized that the event signifies dignity, love, and progress for India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and seers from across the country have been invited to attend the ceremony.Oppn leaders to be invited for Ram temple inaugurationOpposition leaders, including those from Congress and Samajwadi Party, may receive invitations to the grand inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) plans to approach political outfits starting January 1, 2022, as part of a non-political nationwide campaign. Invitations will be accompanied by specially worshipped rice (akshat). The VHP aims to distribute these invitations to every willing person, regardless of their political affiliation, and plans to reach every village and household in the campaign. The move comes after opposition leaders raised concerns about the event becoming a "BJP event.
