Vid secure 33-run lead over Tripura on Day 1

Nagpur: After asking Tripura to bat first, Vidarbha bowlers extracted maximum out of the pitch as the hosts ended Day 1 of their second Cooch Behar Trophy match with a lead of 33 runs at VCA Civil Lines ground on Friday.Fresh from his eight-wicket haul in Vidarbhas opening match triumph, medium pacer Pratham Maheshwari led the charge for the defending champions by snapping up four wickets.Right-arm medium pacers Parth Khure andArjun Ingle took three wickets each as Tripura were bundled out for just 95 in 49.3 overs.Ingle removed opener Sashi Kanta Bin while Maheshwari accounted for Debangshu Datta to reduce Tripura to 6 for 2 inside the fifth over. The other opener, skipper Deepjoy Deb (16), and Pritam Das (28) tried to stem the rot but werent able to put up a good enough resistance. With Vidarbha bowlers striking at regular intervals, it wasnt long before Odishas innings came to an end.Vidarbhas innings too started on a rocky note as both the openers — Aditya Ahuja (18) and Aniket Askar (8) — were back in the hut with the score on 28 in 4.1 overs. Last matchs main scorer Shree Choudhary (1) too departed early to leave the hosts tottering at 33 for 3.No. 3 bat Tushar Suryawanshi and skipper Zubairoddin Khatib played key innings to take the Vidarbha score past 100-run mark.
