Police invoke MCOCA in Mominpura murder case

Nagpur: City police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against six goons, including mastermind Mohd Sohel Parvez Khan, in the sensational Mominpura murder case which rocked the city on October 25. Parvez and two others had shot dead guest house owner Jameel Ahmed over financial dispute and rivalry.Tehsil police had recovered more than 18 firearms and around 150 bullets during investigations into the case.The investigation led to registration of a couple of more offences and an interstate firearms racket too had come to fore.Apart from Sohel, his close aides Salman Khan and Ashish Bisen too were arrested for murder. Sohels nephew Adnan Khan too was arrested subsequently. Police later nabbed Feroze Khan and his aide Imran Alam for supplying the firearms. The charge sheet filed in court alleges that Ajit Bhatia, a developer, framed Duseja. Duseja, known for using RTI to expose land mafias, received threats and was arrested but later released on bail. The recent charge sheet states that Duseja is not implicated, and he suspects the involvement of police officials in fabricating false charges against him.Internal organs missing from man murdered by quack: PolicePolice investigating the case of a man killed by a quack in Thanjavur have found that the victims internal organs were missing. They plan to take the accused into custody for interrogation to check for other victims. The deceased, a cab driver from Thanjavur, went missing after visiting the accuseds house. The accused, a quack practicing siddha medicine, claimed that the victim died during sex. However, during the investigation, the police discovered that the internal organs were missing from the victims body. The accused has been arrested and booked under various sections of the IPC.
