Kranti Nayak: Perfect Ode to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj

Nagpur: Presenting a spectacular confluence of artistic creativity and culture, the mega drama Kranti Nayak enthralled the audience on the fourth day of the Khasdar Cultural Festival on Monday. The play vividly presented the life of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, a beacon of humanity, prolific author of Gram Geeta, and a fervent instiller of patriotism.The venue, Ishwar Deshmukh College of Physical Education, witnessed the 49th show of the mega drama, produced by the Rangbhoomi group in Nagpur. The first show was enacted in 2009, during the birth centenary year of Rashtrasant Tukdoji.The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp in presence of Union minister Nitin Gadkari. Kranti Nayak delved deep into the multifaceted life of Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj, showcasing aspects such as his role in the eradication of superstitions, commitment to cleanliness, engagement in human services, and significant contributions to the Chimur Revolution through Bhajans.The narrative seamlessly flowed, highlighting Tukdoji Maharajs participation in the freedom struggle alongside Gandhiji, his involvement in the Bhoodan Movement with Vinobaji Bhave, and the establishment of the Village Gurudev Seva Mandal. The play also highlighted his recognition as Rashtrasant by the then President Rajendra Prasad, his writing of Gram Gita, and various accolades conferred on him, including an Art Award from Shaheer Sammelan.The audience was treated to a visual feast of traditional songs, khanjiri bhajans, lavanis, tribal and dindi dances.Purushottam Mirashi is the brain the play presented by 70 artists. Producer-directorVilas Kubde, brought the narrative to life, with music direction by Vaman Kachole, dance direction by Virendra Latankar, and lighting by Kishore Battase. The set design by Lalji Srivas, costumes by Shyamala Kubde, and stage management by Satish Barge and Akshay Bhagat added layers of authenticity to the production.The lead role of Tukdoji Maharaj was portrayed by Ramesh Lakhmapure.
