RK Yadav takes over as CentralRailway GM

Nagpur: Ram Karan Yadav took over as the new general manager of Central Railway on Friday. He is a senior officer of the Indian Railways Service of Engineers (IRSE) of the 1986 batch.Before taking over as GM, he was working as director general, Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering (IRICEN), Pune. He succeeds Naresh Lalwani. Highly educated Yadav has vast experience having worked on infrastructure projectsDuring his tenure as DG of IRICEN, he was involved in organizing and planning training for officers of civil engineering and preparation of manuals.Several new lines were laid during his tenure. On his first day of working, he visited various departments and also reviewed train operations in Mumbai. The pilot project for six pairs of trains will offer concierge services, onboard infotainment, and access to travel essentials and accessories. The service providers will sell prepaid meals at predetermined rates and address minor issues. To participate, companies must compete based on the highest license fee and meet the employment and revenue requirements.Central Railway to run 14 unreserved special trains for Mahaparinirvan DiwasCentral Railway (CR) will run 14 unreserved special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers on account of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkars Mahaparinirvan Diwas on December 6. The specials include 3 from Nagpur to CSMT, 6 from CSMT/Dadar to Sewagram/Ajni/Nagpur, 2 between Kalaburagi and CSMT, 2 between Solapur and CSMT, and 1 from Ajni to CSMT. The details of the special trains are provided in the article.In a first, Indian Railways allows MNCs to deploy indigenous Kavach anti train collision system on networkApproval has been given to global companies Siemens and Kyosan to install the Kavach automatic train collision avoidance system on the Indian Railways network. By March 2025, the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah railway routes will be entirely fitted with Kavach. Currently, 1,659 km of railway lines have the system installed, with an additional 500 km set to be covered by March next year. The aim is to extend this safety measure to encompass at least 5,000 km of tracks. Indian Railways capability to install Kavach will significantly increase with the recent approvals.
