In 7 mnths, Rly cops save 66 lives, hand back ₹3cr lost items

Nagpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Central Railways, saved lives of around 66 persons, pulling them out from the jaws of death, between April and October this year. They also helped around 857 passengers to get their lost valuables, worth almost ₹3 crore, back in the same period.Under the mission Jeevan Raksha, RPF managed to save lives of those involved in accidents while boarding or alighting trains apart from rescuing many trying to commit suicide.Around 14 persons were saved in Nagpur division, 15 in Pune, 19 in Mumbai, 13 in Bhusaval and five in Solapur.In Nagpur division, the RPF, under mission Operation Amanat, helped around 168 passengers to get their valuables worth around ₹37 lakh back. Under the operation, the RPF personnel try to locate the missing, left behind or abandoned belongings in the trains and return it to the owners.Laptops, mobile phones, purses, and bags formed the majority of the lost valuables returned to the owners. In the Mumbai division, RPF has returned valuables worth ₹1.63 crores to around 377 passengers, highest among all divisions.
