ASISC school principals’ meet concludes in JSR

Jamshedpur: The two-day 35th regional conference of the Association of Schools of the Indian School Certificate (ASISC) conducted at the Kerala Samajam Model School (KSMS) in Golmuri for the principals of Bihar and Jharkhand concluded on Tuesday. The deputy secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) Board, Sangeeta Bhatia, visited the conclave on the second and concluding day and discussed matters concerning the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in the affiliated schools.Bhatia highlighted the bottlenecks in the process of adopting and adapting to the NEP and briefed on the methods aimed at implementing the new education policy smoothly. The event focuses on fostering relationships between students, teachers, and parents. Workshops and interactive sessions were held on the first day, and discussions on the challenges of adopting the NEP will take place on the second day. Topics such as exams, evaluation of answer books, changing teaching patterns, stress management, and student mental health and hygiene will also be covered.Principal of primary school suspended for absencesThe principal of a primary school in Pauri Garhwal district has been suspended for repeated absences without permission. Harish Chandra Kukreti, the principal of Barsudi primary school, had received multiple notices but showed no improvement in his behavior. He has been attached to the block education office until an inquiry is completed. Meanwhile, in Gujarat, there are 926 government primary schools operating with only one teacher, and over 7,900 classrooms are in poor condition. The government has promised to fill vacant teaching positions soon.School principal honoured with Global Icon awardDr Revathi Srinivasan, principal of Smt Sulochanadevi Singhania school in Thane, was honored at the House of Lords for her contributions in education. The title of Global Icon and Inspirational Global Leader in Education was bestowed upon her. In other news, the principal of a primary school in Pauri Garhwal district has been suspended for unauthorized absences, while an FIR has been filed against the principal, coach, and staff members of a Sainik school in Lucknow after a student was found dead in the swimming pool. Additionally, the principal of Andhra Medical College has been awarded the fellow of Indian academy of neurology.
