Trucks carrying illegal coal seized, 7 arrested

Bokaro: Giridih police arrested seven persons and intercepted and seized nine illegal coal-laden trucks at Delhi-Kolkata National Highway on Wednesday. This significant operation unfolded across various police station jurisdictions within the Giridih, said SP Deepak Kumar Sharma. The action was initiated in response to a tip off that indicated the arrival of multiple coal-laden trucks from Dhanbad, suspected of carrying illegal coals.Girdih police spokesperson, Sanjay Rana said that the coordinated efforts with Dumri SDPO Sumit Kumar, Sariya Bagodar SDPO Naushad Alam, Nimiaghat police station in-charge and other officials, tasking them with inspecting vehicles on the national highway (NH).DSP said, In line with the SPs directives, police teams from three police stations, converged on the highway. Systematic vehicle checks led to the sequential apprehension of the trucks carrying illegal coals. Initially, two trucks were intercepted near Pauraiya within the Nimiaghat police station.Subsequently, Dumri police halted two trucks, while Bagodar police seized two near Aura, two near Hesla, and one near Atka. Seven, including Bagodar and Nimighat, were arrested during these operations, said Rana. Furthermore, in New Delhi, two taxi drivers were arrested for trafficking heroin worth over Rs 1 crore.Goa man held for stealing trailer truck from police custodyA resident of Indiranagar, Chimbel, stole a trailer truck that was in the custody of the Old Goa police station. The truck had previously rammed into a shed in Old Goa, narrowly missing sleeping workers. The driver claimed to have lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the accident. The truck was then seized by the police and parked near ITI Corlim, where it was later stolen. The Old Goa police station is currently operating from temporary premises while awaiting a new building.
