East S’bhum security on alert for rallies

Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure a smooth Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi on Thursday. The processions will start from Mangos Gandhi Maidan and culminate at the Dhatkidih central ground after criss-crossing Aam Bagan in Sakchi, Straight Mile Road, Bistupur roundabout, and Kadma. Zia ul Mustafa Qadari, the general secretary of the Tanzeem e Ahle Sunnat o Jamaat, said. The city has been divided into seven zones for effective management of the processions. Magistrates and security forces have also been deployed, SSP Kaushal Kishore said on Wednesday.Police drone cameras and over 400 CCTV cameras will be deployed along the procession routes and the event will be monitored by officials from the composite crime control room in Sakchi. The processions will also be videographed. Dhalbhum sub-division officer Piyush Sinha said, We have urged the mosque heads and pesh imams to ensure that the volunteers cooperate with the police and the administration officials. Any diversion of processions from the designated routes will not be permitted. Streets at over a dozen intersections have been barricaded to prevent traffic movement on the routes. This decision was made following an appeal from the city police to avoid a clash with the Ganesh visarjan on September 28. The police and the committee have agreed on a deadline of 1pm for winding up the processions, which will begin at 7am. The police have taken various measures to ensure law and order during the celebrations.Security personnel and Kurmi protesters clash in West SbhumNine state government officials, including police officers and a block development officer, were injured when sympathizers of the Adivasi Kurmi Samaj (AKS) threw stones during a rail blockade in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Security personnel tried to push the protestors away from the tracks, resulting in injuries to several demonstrators. The blockade was eventually lifted, but protests by the AKS demanding Scheduled Tribe (ST) status for their community continued in Jharkhand. The Kurmi leaders in Jharkhand, Odisha, and West Bengal have been calling for an indefinite rail blockade since September 20.
