Emeritus Cardinal Toppo to be laid to rest on Oct 11

Ranchi: Ranchi archdiocese on Thursday announced that Emeritus Cardinal Telesphore P Toppo would be laid to rest at the 113-year-old St. Marys Cathedral at Purulia Road, Ranchi, on October 11.The director of the Constant Lievens Hospital and Research Centre (CLHRC), Fr George Pekkadenkuzhy, said, As the body of the Emeritus Cardinal needs to be preserved till October 11, it was today taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, for embalming. The embalmed body has been brought back to the CLHRC, Mandar. A funeral notice, signed by Ranchi archbishop Felix Toppo and auxiliary bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, said the mortal remains of Emeritus Cardinal Toppo would be kept at the mortuary of the CLHRC, Mandar, till the morning of October 10, after which it would be brought to the Cathedral in Ranchi.The faithful would be allowed to pay homage from 3pm to 8pm on October 10 and from 6am till 12 noon the next day, the notice read.We also published the following articles recentlyEmeritus Cardinal Toppo passes away at age 84Telesphore Placidus Toppo, Asias first tribal cardinal, passed away at the age of 84 due to a cardiac arrest. Singh had accused Patel and her production house of cheating him of around Rs 3 crore. Patel issued two bounced cheques and allegedly refused to pay back the money.
