‘Ganga Run’ participants promote cleanliness

Bokaro: In a vibrant celebration of Ganga Utsav, a Ganga Run was organised by the District Ganga Committee on Saturday to raise awareness and promote cleanliness of rivers and water sources. The event brought together a diverse set of participants committed to preserving natural water bodies.The event began with the release of a balloon from the Bokaro airport.Runners made their way through significant landmarks, including Bokaro Circuit House, Tiranga Park, Paryavaran Chowk. The run concluded at the Garga River bridge ghat at Chas. Superintendent of police (SP) Priyadarshi Alok, SDO Chas, Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat and others.The SP said, Rivers and water sources play a vital role in human life. Our life is closely connected to the cleanliness and well-being of these water bodies. The run is aimed to raise awareness among the public regarding the importance of maintaining clean rivers and water sources, urging everyone to take part in this noble endeavour. The water level in the Ganga is currently declining and is expected to decrease further by the time of the festival. The district administration is making arrangements at numerous ghats and deploying police and magistrates for security.As fertile fields lie barren for 40 years, farmers seek to stop river water pollution by industriesThe agricultural land in Jaitpur and Gadhwara villages in India has been barren for the past 40 years due to the pollution of the Bandi River. Industrial waste, primarily from the textile industry, has contaminated the river, causing crops to fail and the soil to become infertile. The farmers have complained to the authorities and sought justice through legal channels, but have yet to receive relief. As a result, the farmers are forced to work as laborers in nearby factories to support their families.
