18-yr-old youth arrested with illegal firearm

Thane: An 18-year-old youth from Shreenagar area of Thane was arrested after he was found to be in possession of an illegal firearm, officials said on Saturday.We received information about an armed teenager arriving at the garden near Ayyapa temple, in Wagle Estate area late Friday evening, following which, we laid a trap for him. Our teams spotted the youth identified as Siddharth Salve, a resident of Warlipada.Upon frisking him, they found an illegal country-made firearm from his possession, informed a police official. The victims identity remains protected as per Supreme Court directives.Friends plot murder of youth in Chennai; five arrestedA group of five youths in Chennai invited their friend for a booze party and then murdered him as revenge for a humiliation that occurred six months ago. The deceased, R Prashanth, was found lying in a pool of blood in an isolated area. The police arrested all five suspects in connection with the murder. Prashanths father had lodged a complaint after he failed to return home. The investigation revealed that the group planned the murder due to a fight and humiliation that happened six months prior.
